Current Graduate Students
Gabriela NiculescuGabriela received a bachelor's degree in Bioengineering from University Politehnica of Bucharest, Faculty of Automatic Control and Computers in 1994. She become a graduate student in the Biomedical Engineering department at Rutgers University in 1999. Between 1999-2000 she was in a psychology lab at Rutgers University, where she conducted research in the active integration of eye movements with visual cognitive processes such as attention, perception and memory. Since 2000, she has conducted research at CBII involving medical image analysis. She earned a joint M.S. degree from Rutgers University and the University of Medicine & Dentistry of New Jersey in 2003. Currently in the Ph.D. program, her research interests focus on 3D shape characterization of anatomic structures for disease staging, therapy planning, and registration. |
Lin YangLin Yang is a PhD student in the graduate program in electrical and computer engineering at Rutgers and works under the direction of Dr. Foran at UMDNJ and Dr. Peter Meer in the ECE department of Rutgers. He has advanced training in computer vision, image/signal processing and computer science. He has been working in CBII since spring, 2004 and is one of the chief developers of the Pathminer project. He is working on the development of robust image segmentation algorithms, on the design and development of intelligent databases, pattern recognition, and machine learning for medical image and data analysis. He enjoys hiking, swimming and soccer. |
Bonnie Huang HallBonnie was born in Brooklyn, New York, but grew up mostly in Sayreville, NJ. After graduation with honors from UC Berkeley in 2001, she lived in south central LA as a destitute economics TA (but loved every moment of it). After this experience, she returned to the sciences and began the MD/PhD program in 2002 at Robert Wood Johnson Medical School. Currently, she is completing her PhD on textons and pattern recognition for imaged histopathology. Bonnie is happily married and has one son, Eliot, born Oct 2005. She enjoys cooking, chocolate, and sleeping in. Attempts on the latter have so far been unsuccessful since Fall 2005. |
Will CukierskiWill is a PhD candidate in the joint biomedical engineering program between UMDNJ & Rutgers. He earned a bachelor's degree in physics from Cornell University in 2006. He is currently working on clustering and data mining cancer microarrays. In addition, he maintains and designs the many websites of the CBII lab. Will partakes in coffee, books, and races for the Rutgers cycling team. |
Hong ZhangHong Zhang is a Ph.D. student in the joint graduate program of biomedical engineering at UMDNJ/Rutgers and has worked under the direction of Dr. Yim (Radiology Department), Dr.Foran (Pathology Department) and Dr. Nosher (Radiology Department) in UMDNJ since 2002. He has advanced training in computer vision, image/signal processing and computer science. He is working on the development of 3D reconstruction and modeling analysis for medical images, data analysis, and robust image segmentation algorithms. He enjoys tennis, table tennis, badminton, swimming and basketball. |
